Is there a way to monitor the event log for a specific event ID and have something done when that specific ID is found? I can see that it is possible to do everything to the event logs except reading from it. Anybody know?

not directly and didn't search udf-library for this...
if not exist, might write one.
one could go for backup and then read from the file...

Have a look in BrianTX's post: Script to monitor Eventlog

This should get you a startet.

I monitor all my servers using only KiX and WMI.
I recive a mail and a Net-message whenever a warning or error enters the eventlog on any server.
