No it's not normal but I seriously doubt if it is a kix issue. I'd put my money on a workstation issue.
Does this happen on all workstations or just one some of them? Does it always happen to the same users or to random users?

Deleting the drives and then mapping them to the share they should point to would be a workaround and it ensures you that your users will have the proper drives mapped.
