I know things are slow on the board, but is this really all the items that you guys think need fixing? No requests for added functionality either?

It used to be that when you went "back" from a thread to the forum list it would mark the topic that you had been reading new messages in.

Now it does not mark the topics as read when you go "back".

Did that make any sense

Along with Gargoyle's comment, When you look at the 'Forum List' the Icon to the left of the forum is a different color if you have not read a Topic in that forum (which I like). You can click on the topic link to the right so see the most recent topic post. When you come back to the 'Forum List' the Icon changes to a color that is the same as all the other icons letting you know you have read all the recent posts in that topic, but it is deceptive because the icon changes after the first post you read in that topic, there maybe other topics that you may not have read yet.

The back button no longer causes a refresh which I do like. Too bad for you, Gargoyle.

@Gargoyle
You actually should click on the Forum link to go back if you want it to update properly.

@Benny
There is discussion on the board about it and at this time not sure which way it's going to go. Part of the reasoning for setting all as read once you read one from the forum is that on some boards there may be dozens of posts you don't want to read - in that case you don't want it showing you have unread posts - until an actual new one arrives.
In my case and probably yours we do read all posts so we would like it to keep the main forum indicator on until we have read all of them in cases where maybe we've had to close and come back later, etc...
I'll let you know if that does get changed. I've asked for maybe an option or button for the user to click to allow either operation so both sides of the fence can win.

A nice new feature in 7.1 that I like is the robot spiders are split out from other users as to Who's Online.

I *much* prefer to have a forum marked as read once I've visited it and read the individual posts that I'm interested in.

So long as determining if there are any unread posts in a forum is not an expensive process I'd agree that selecting the action depending on a checkbox in your user profile is the way to go.

k, that's preference but does that affect the active topics view?
is that the reason why reading a post in active topics marks all posts read in there?

I say that's a bug.

k, tested it.
yup.
reading a post via active topics and returning back to view the rest unreads.
all the posts from the same forum are also marked as read.

this surely is not what I want.
I know, I can use "open in another tab" for all unread posts, given that there is only like 20 topics with unread posts.
if there is more, the rest are gone to me.

fracked, I say.

You are correct Jooel that it is broken on our version 7.02, however it is currently already fixed in 7.1 beta and will work correctly for the release 7.1

A basic list of changes in UBBT 7.1:
  • New Active Topics Format
  • List of Search Bots on the detailed Who's Online Screen
  • New text style post buttons, to help support the multi language feature.
  • Option to leave a reason for editing, when editing your post.
  • Indicator for the number of new topics/posts in a forum.
  • Mood selectors - you can change your mood in the upper right corner of every screen, next to the Logout link.
  • Online Indicator - You can see who's online when viewing their post along with their current mood.
  • Sort order selection at the bottom of the list of posts for each forum.
  • New Option in your profile to show relative or normal timestamps.
  • PHP/Code/Quote blocks should overflow properly in IE.

I wonder what the logic for that is? The columns should be clickable just like in the User list.

It has been requested to allow individual posts to show the "mood" at the time of the post, and not the current one for all posts.

Damn, its annoying have the envelope flashing there all the time. \:\(

DOC, Jooel, someone... HELP ME, please!

Search for 3 character is now enabled. I had set it once in MySQL and in UBBT but one of the restores I performed had set MySQL back to default.

So you can now search for terms down to only 3 characters if you like but remember that if the search is found in more than 50% of the total posts it will be ignored as MySQL has built-in limits to prevent such searches just like Google ignores keywords such as IF/THE/THEN/etc...

An example:
Search for THE and you will get a response of "There are no results for your query. Please try a broader range of search criteria. "

If you search for THY it is not considered a key stop word and it is not found often here on Korg so it will search for it and find it.

Guy's,

Two questions.

- 1 Is there a chance that the fix that was done to the old board so one could copy code from the board and paste it in lets say ASE without having to paste in Word first because the formatting gets screwed up will/can be implemented in this board?

- 2 The old board show the names of the mods underneath the forum names when on the forum list page (1st page) of the board. I did not notice it was gone until just now. Is this by design and not possible or is there some way to get this back? It's nice to know who is watching over your shoulder

Again, thanks for the good work.
