Please post issues or requests for modifications or ideas for new functionality for the BBS software UBB Threads.

I would like to compile a list so that I can post a request over on the development site about these requests, where they are now testing 7.1 of the software.

Please make serious constructive requests or complaints only.

1. RSS Feed (improve functionality) - Jens
  • a) the time field is non-standard
  • b) if there is code in the post, the feed becomes corrupt

2. SEARCH (search for 3 character is now enabled) - Jooel
3. ACTIVE TOPICS (appears to be fixed in 7.1 already) - Les

.

A fully functional RSS feed, maybe even broken out by forum, so you can select what you're subscribing to.

the forum version is already available.

but doesn't help if the feed is broken.
also, the feeds lists currently korg feeder as author (at least in outlook) and that should be replaced by post author.

fix the search.
searching for "udf" returns no matches.
searching for "kixtart.org/udf" returns matches that have nothing to do with it.

I think this was mentioned before... the new post indicators in the active topics view disappear before the posts are read. When I visit the board, new posts have the little arrow, but if I reply to a topic and then go to the active topics view again, all the arrows are gone.

Benny, I assume you mean when the CSS goes screwy and forces you to scroll the window for the whole page. That has already been addressed and fixed in 7.1b1 they are now on 7.1b2

It is an issue with how IE handles the CSS. Currently using FireFox this is not an issue. Can use FireFox for now or wait for 7.1 release.

@Les (active topics)

Didn't realize that issue. I rarely use it so didn't notice it. I will check on it and if not already addressed will report it.

@Jens (RSS)

Jens, what RSS client do you use and what specifically doesn't work correctly? I'm not an avid user of RSS so I need more details of the issue before I can report it. Fully functional is not very descriptive to report an error as I'm sure you can imagine if you were the one coding it.

Doc,
The long line posts I was speaking about are the ones that have html in them, Jooel explained to me that the html-code denies the wrapping of the post.

follow on that...
long line codes don't scroll horisontally, only vertically.

and doc, the rss is broken.
a) the time field is non-standard
b) if there is code in the post, the feed becomes corrupt

these I said (I think) already when I announced that there is feed available on the board.

then, another one is the issue of cache.
sometimes the feed works fine but other times it can take like an hour for the feed to update.

Benny

I have a new release of PostPrep due out in January that does intelligent long-line wrapping. You can see the results of it
in this post. The last line in the source was about 300 characters long - it was artificially created to that length to test the wrapping feature. Scroll to the end of the code section to see the result.

I was able to edit the post multiple times as well. (I need to coordinate a test in the Scripts and UDF folders with the mods, too) I did select HTML as the original post format. I know there were problems editing PostPrepped posts in the past. Unfortunately, the issue of copy/paste to Notepad is not resolved. It seems the UBB strips the NL's from the content of the code tags.

The new PostPrep version will be glued to KGen to optionally create a HTM file when it generates the scripts. There's also a command-line version that either converts to HTM file, or converts to clipboard for direct pasting into KORG (or other places). The revamped GUI version will follow a bit later - we should talk abou the differences between kf and kf.net.

glenn, that long line code does take care of long lines alright, but it's not autosizing.

Hmm - I doubt it will be with the code inside of PRE tags.

The logic tries to break the line at column 70, breaking on whitespace and after select delimiter characters, like commas and arithmetic functions. It also determines the current indent and indents the remaining lines by the same amount plus 2 spaces.

I'm not sure we want to get into CSS or Diversions within the post, which might make the edit problems return.

Let me know if you have other ideas.

Glenn
