Lonk, before you lol-away any more in your wmp confusion, have you even bothered to check which filter or codec that has the highest priority in your OS, and thereby handles the mp3 playback for wmp?

Also, have you checked the security and proxy-settings in wmp?

Uninstall that messed up codec pack you've installed and hope that it returns everything to normal (which is one of the reasons NOT to install crap like that to begin with).
