I have several different labs that are all soon going to be connecting to the same 2003 terminal servers. I'd like to come up with a script that looks at the OU the RDC client is coming from and maps printers based on that membership.

I'm fairly new to scripting but I did manage to muddle my way through a login script that maps drives based on group membership. So I'm not totally retarded!

Is this possible? Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

If i understood you right it should be no problem. But please elaborate a bit further: Do you want to check the users OU, or the clients OU from which the user is connecting to the TS?

Thanks, I want to check and see which OU the client computer account is in and map a printer based on that information. Our issue here is that we have several labs networked together which for security purposes have to maintain certain levels of separation. I currently have short vb scripts applied to OU's where computer accounts reside which are separated by location. That way the computers in a certain lab always get the same printers in the same lab. The tricky part is we have people traveling between these labs so we can map based on user group membership. And unfortunately, there's a good deal of "hand-holding" that goes on here with respect to using systems so we can't expect many of these users to voluntarily choose the correct printer.

thank you for your help therob

Have a look at GetComputerOU() - Retrieve OU of computer account

Yeah that UDF should do the trick. You could place that in a TS-logonscript. If you have problems in actually creating the script, just ask.

Thank you both,

I'll give this a try from scratch on my own (I'll probably be back though).
