you might be able to get away with opening a copy of explorer at the desktop...

If shawn (or kdyer or someone) can COM a wscript.shell that opens explorer hidden(not visible) at the desktop folder, it might make the system refresh it.

Perhaps there may even be a wscript.folder.refresh property...
