Is there a way to move a user share folder, e.g. accessible to user A only, from Drive D to Drive E within the server with the rights intact.

Thank you very much.

Yes,

You can use a couple of UDFs for the SHARE if wanted, or there are other tools to handle the share portion.

You can use ROBOCOPY for the file move.

source destination /COPYALL or /MOVE

I have been searching for an answer in this forum but to no avail. Will you be able to show me how it can be done.

In my D:\, I have a shared folder named as ABC and shared to only user ABC as ABC$.

Thank you for your help.

As my drive d has a small capacity. I am intending to install a larger capacity of hard disk and move all the users' share folder, e.g. ABC$ to the larger hard disk so that they will have a bigger space to house their data.

Thank you.

But my case is moving the share folder from one drive to another in the same server.

Thank you.

so, what you want to do is:
- unshare the folder
- move the data to another drive
- share the new folder

so, you probably are going to need to use:
net share to unshare the folder and a tool like robocopy to move the data and net share again to share the new folder.

the looping through all the folders can be done with batch or kixtart script:
Code:

$dir = dir("d:\userData")
while $dir
if $dir<>"." and $dir<>".."
$dir ?
;place your unshare move and share code here
endif
$dir = dir()
loop
