This is probably "beaten down" topic, but I am kind of new at this, so please bare with me.

What I want to do is write a script in KixTrat allowing anyone to login to any computer on the network and have the script automaticaly create a new Outlook profile for each user on our Exchange 2000 server. All of our workstations are Windows 98 with Office 2000. I saw a couple of posts showing different scripts, but since I am new at this, I don't really know what to do with them. All of the links that seems to be pointing to the explanation on how to do it are broken. I would appreciate if anybody wrote a step by step instruction (with scripts) on how to implement what I wrote above.

Thank you.

sharapov,

Welcome to the board!

Please have a look at the following script.

Copy and paste this off to a separate file and save it like OLCFG.KIX..

In your main KIXTART.KIX script, do a "CALL" to it and it will return to where it left off when complete, for example:

code:

CALL OLCFG.KIX

kdyer,
After a fast look, it should be possible to do this only with COM, no ? (i don't have an UDF idea behind my head )

Alex,

If you want to approach this from that angle, please do. However, when a new person comes into the company, and they login the first time, this is using tools from Office Developer's Kit to generate a new profile. If, once the user's profile is setup for Outlook, you can then use a COM/UDF to call Outlook.

Looking at the files supplied by Microsoft that are referenced in the script, here is what they mean...

  • FIXPRF.EXE - "Fixes the PRF file before generation of the inbox."
  • PROFGEN.EXE - "Generates an e-mail profile."
  • NEWPROF.EXE - "Creates a new e-mail profile."
  • WINNT.PRF - "A File that is composed like an INI that is setup to tell what e-mail server you are using, etc. and is called by NEWPROF or PROFGEN (if uncommented)."

HTH,

- Kent
