Monday's off, as stock exchanges are closed, but was in the office half of Sunday :-(

Monday 29th?? Today is 30th already so you probably mean Monday the 5th. I know the US is in a different time zone but not six days behind our local time
Not only a long weekend for the US we here in the Netherlands have a religious holiday on Sunday and Monday so most offices will be closed.

Did this post confuse anyone else? Yes, yesterday (2006/05/29) was Memorial day in the U.S. Of course, when he posted it was the 25th, so it was still next Monday for him. Although I might have said, this coming Monday.

I know, this is a silly post, but I'm in danger of dropping out of the post-count tally list.

Sounds like my wife's logic. So next Monday is the Monday after this coming Monday?

Yes. The next coming Monday would be this Monday if Monday has already passed. Yesterday would be last Monday if it were Wednesday or later, but because its Tuesday it is still just yesterday.

so...
Code:

if @day <> "monday"
$future = "this monday"
else
$future = "next monday"
endif
if @wdayno <> 2
$past = "last monday"
else
$past = "yesterday"
endif

right?

hmm...
not.
this monday sounds odd if day is tuesday...

That's confusing.
We just say Monday and if Monday just ended everybody understands that it’s the next Monday on the calendar. If we mean a Monday further away then the following Monday it would become Monday in two weeks or Monday in three weeks or something like it. If we speak about things that happened in the past due to other words being in the past format everybody also understands that it was last Monday or even longer ago.

Oh well… different ways of telling the same story. It does not matter how it is told it always ends the same way.

But actually saying what you mean is not as fun as asking "Do you mean Monday the 29th or Monday the 5th?"

anyways, not sure how it all got screwed up in marts mind as he said, you must mean fifth as 29th just got by and you surely don't have 6 day time offset in the past compared to his.
when actually, following the original logic, he should have said in the future.

or did I get confused by it too?

ROFL

Not sure how one could really screw it up. Regardless if said NEXT/LAST/UPCOMING/PAST - the date would still be the correct date.

Heading out your way in July. Didn't want it to be too cold

Yeah, signed up for July 10 - July 13

I didn't really want the middle of summer, but didn't want to wait till next year either. All the rains at the beginning of the year scared me off too as I didn't want to spend all that money and then be in the rain at the track.

Sounds good.

Wow, this video sure makes me yearn to do biking again. But that Porsche near the end would probably
get me killed. Would almost force you to take it even harder and faster trying to catch him.
