jbelew jbelew Fresh Scripter Registered: 2002-07-24 Posts: 23 Loc: Knoxville, TN	For some reason, I have one computer out of roughly 80 that processes my KiXtart login script very slowly. It takes around 80 seconds and the rest of the computers average about 5-10 seconds. I have checked and double-checked all of the network settins, patch cables, etc. Once he is logged on, the user has no trouble at all on the network. Thanks, Jason

You already said that the network settings and cables and stuff are all ok so if it is juts pinned down to just this one computer I'd re-image the system or if kix32 or wkix32 are copied to the local machine maybe replacing it with afresh copy could help. Maybe start the task manager during the logon script to verify it is not the kix32 process itself (In this case you might want to replace the local kix32.exe) [edit] post the bat file and the logon script if possible[/edit] Edited by Jochen (2006-05-24 04:03 PM) _________________________

Shawn Shawn Administrator Registered: 1999-08-13 Posts: 8611	I would do the following: 1) Make a copy of you login script, give it a new name. 2) Put tons of tracers messages in it, like this: ; code ?"Now mapping drive... press any...." get$ ; code ?"Now doing something else ... press any...." get$ ; code 3) Promote it to NETLOGON and assign this script to a test user. 4) Login and take notes ... your trying to pinpoint in your script, what is taking all time. 5) Refine your tracers and re-promote - keep doing this until you pinpoint the problem. 6) Check your application eventlog on workstation for Kixtart messages.

NTDOC NTDOC Administrator Registered: 2000-07-28 Posts: 11631 Loc: CA	Just an FYI that if you don't have any Windows 9x systems to support then you don't need to call KiXtart with a batch file. NT/2000/XP/2003 all run fine without a batch file.

mole mole Getting the hang of it Registered: 2003-01-01 Posts: 81 Loc: Indian Head, Maryland, USA	I encountered a system exhibiting symptoms like this in one of my chemistry labs. Anybody who logged in the script ran slow. Replaced the local Kix32 executable, etc. The solution was to remove the network adapter via add/remove hardware in the control panel. Reboot, let the system redetect the NIC and apply the latest drivers from the vendor. All was normal after that.
