Lonkero Lonkero KiX Master Guru Registered: 2001-06-05 Posts: 22346 Loc: OK	gargoyle, not quite. we have idol crap too but eurovision is a bit different. all the countries gather what they think are the best of their bands and artists and let them make a song to contest with. then the national crowd selects which one represents them. those selectee's the compete against each other in the semi-finals for entry in to finals. 10 best songs/countries are voted upon. the last years 10 best and french, germany and 2 others I don't remember anymore get always free ticket directly to the finals. so, it makes max. 24, like this year when none of those free ticket countries qualified by other means. think third one of them was great britain. in the finals, all the songs are presented and then all the countries involved in the process get to vote for the best one but can't vote for their own. iirc, it was 32 countries this year. the points go down from 12 to 10 and 8 and then from 7 decreases per one. so, theoretical maximum of points this year was 384. previous high score was 260 something. Lordi collected astonishing 292 points, when countries like, malta and macedonia didn't give it a single point. _________________________ ! download KiXnet

Not a lot of kind words for Lordi came from the two TV people doing TV comments for the Dutch TV. They talked about the people just voting for the act and that is was a crappy song, lots of countries had better songs and so on.... I think this is cool. Finaly something else then a tear jerking folk song wins. They had a nice act but the song is not that good to be honest. Nobody seems to know who the Lordi guys are in real life. All public perfromances like press meetings and stuff in Athens got done wearing the suites. When the suites came off they acted as regular people and did not present themself as Lordi. So who are they? Is this something like Slipkot? Wearing maskes and noone knowing who they are? Anyway, congrats to Finland and Lordi. A double party for competing 40 times and for winning. I'm not such a eurovision songcontest fan but maybe we will make it past the semi finals next year who knows. This year was crap for us. Especially since the Eastern Europe countries are into his contest. To me the level of artists and songs is very low... Years ago it was much better. ABBA for example is one of the winners of the Eurovsion contest. Todays artists don't make it to the second round when they take part of Idols...(or American Idol, Popidol, etc) _________________________ Co

Never been a fan of it, but to se some startrek-based outfits win with something that could be taken for hardrock... that's so neat _________________________ as long as it works - why fix it? If it doesn't work - kix-it!

But I recently saw a compilation video of her and wow - she did a lot of that short skirt on stage tour stuff - but not a lot of full video on the Web of it.
