Windows 2000 came with 2.5 and XP came with 2.6 IIRC

Current is 2.8 SP1

http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/ref/mdac/downloads/

NOTE:
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 SP1 contains core Data Access components such as the Microsoft SQL Server™ OLE DB provider and ODBC driver. This redistributable installer for the MDAC 2.8 SP1 release installs the same Data Access components as Microsoft Windows XP SP2.

This release does not include Microsoft Jet, the Microsoft Jet OLE DB Provider or ODBC driver, the Desktop Database ODBC Drivers, or the Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver.

sealeopard/ntdoc: ty, that's the exact answer i was looking for.

les/ntdoc: i'm going to give the centralized logging folder using an ini as my logging format. i'm doing this for a multitude of reasons: 1) you guys recommend it. 2) this method gurantees that the information will be gathered as long as the script doesn't error and a net connection is present; i don't have to worry about a driver, database being in use, etc 3) both KiX and PHP have inherent functions that will allow me to write the data efficiently and parse it into a multidimensional array for easy interpretation.

thanx for the info as always guys. it's good to be home. =D

Having multiple computers write to the same log file is not recommended as it can lead to contention due to concurrent access attempts.

yeah i'm actually going to make hte ini files - @WKSTA + ".ini" and then just have a PHP script open each ini file to write the contents to a DB.
