Canada beats U.S. in curling
PINEROLO, Italy (AP)-- The United States, still looking for its first men's curling medal, will play for the bronze at the Turin Olympics.
Canada clinched at least a silver medal by beating the U.S. 11-to-5 today. That sends the Americans into the consolation game for third place. Canada wrapped up today's game with a whopping five points in the ninth end—one point short of the Olympic record.
Finland beat Britain 4-to-3 in the other semifinal, so the U.S. plays Britain for the bronze, and Canada takes on Finland for the gold.
HOCKEY
Finland 4 United States 3
TURIN, Italy (AP)-- The U.S. men's hockey team just never clicked in Turin, and now it's out of the Olympics.
Finland beat the Americans 4-to-3 in a quarterfinal today. The U.S. had 15 of its 26 shots in the third period but couldn't get the tying goal in the net. Olli Jokinen scored two power-play goals in the second period for Finland, which advances to a semifinal game against either Canada or Russia.
The U-S, which won the silver medal four years ago in Salt Lake City, finishes this tournament with a 1-4-and-1 record.
BTW, why is Curling an Olympic sport? It is like 1 step above skipping rocks on a pond
