I have an application currently under consideration (Scriptlogic) that uses KIX.

I am noticing these errors accumlating in the log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: KIXTART
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5
Date: 1/30/2006
Time: 11:20:37 AM
User: N/A
Computer:
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 5 ) in Source ( KIXTART ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: Fatal exception occurred.
Error : (0xc0000005/-1073741819).

Happens when a user (who happens to be in the Domain Admin group) tries to term serv into the server that reflects the error.

Since I am fairly new to KIX I was wondering if anyone else has seen this?

Thanks in advance...

Well, I've seen many of these - impossible to tell the root cause without further details. I guess you dont have access to "the source script" eh ? What version of SL btw ? 6.x ? 7.x ?

I would do two things ... search the SL forums for anything related, if nothing found - post a question over there. While waiting for a response, I would check to see if one has "access" to the source script - if so, pepper the thing with tracers until the offending line was found.

SL Support told me that something regarding this existed in their KB but did not provide an article number and I cannot find it. I have posted a question, but...

I haven't the slightest idea how to edit the offending script, assuming I could find it in the first place.

Found this on eventid.net. The link to 0x5 error code is not accessible for not registered ($$ subscription) users. Maybe someone here has a subscription to eventid.net and can follow the link or you can get a subscript for you self. I have had one but lost it when my former employer went bankrupt. Maybe I should get a new one, it's been helpful in the past and $24/year is peanuts.

lol.
mart, event id is just a copy of the error number.
it says, error "access denied" has occured.

now, his error is totally different than yours.
his error text looks like his terminal server is not properly configured at all.

depends a bit what the code is trying to do.
if you have simple script that only does ingroup and maybe shows something on console, then it's 100% misconfiguration.
as in, not properly set rights.

but, then again, need to see what causes the exe to report this error before being sure.
rights issue it is never the less.
