Something more I have to block at my firewall. As with many things that may start out as a security enhancement, they get abused and turn into scum tools.

Rad,
Where are you going with this? Are you considering its use from private computers, public kiosks, or corporate computers. The problem with the use of anonymous proxies is that since they run through an encrypted tunnel, corporate content management cannot decrypt and inspect the content so office workers can surf porn with impunity.

Well aside from a bit slower it seems to work fine. Seems to run most pages like normal.

Notice though that most legit sites steer clear of this sort of technology even as noted by the author.

As with any application has it's good side and it's bad side. For those in repressed area of the World maybe tools like this can / will allow them better access to the outside World then the proxy method of using Google or others to bypass local proxy limits.

I wouldn't worry too much about most users using it at Corporate World Les. I'm sure there are ways to prevent it's use if it ever did become prevalent.

Don't be so complacent. Anonymous proxies are very widely used to circumnavigate corporate content filtering. Our company has a Symantec SGS content folder and to my surprise, it does not catch these. I need to craft specific filters in my ISA and maintain a whitelist. As you know, sites like this are a moving target.

Maybe Kent can use it to get access to MSN at work.

We have had several cases of individuals being at least written up due to anonymous proxy use. It is a well known way to get around corporate filtering. This to is something that I will have to add to our block list.

Don't disagree Les and don't advocate for normal workers in general. However I do believe that this type of technology and even more advanced that has dynamic name/port/ip modification on the fly is of potential use to those people in the World that don't live with such daily freedoms as you and I do.

Well, my point was that assuming that you trust the service, it makes it safer for 'portable' workers... libraries, internet cafes, etc, when you want to secure your communications.

of course keyloggers and such can invalidate that, but it is a step...

and I agree, this is bad for work.
