lawe009 lawe009 Fresh Scripter Registered: 2004-04-14 Posts: 36	I´m gonna generate Outlook profiles for users who hasn´t got one. I´m gonna check for the existance of the DefaultProfile value. Is this a secure way determine if the value exist? Code: $Outlook = ReadValue("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsytem\Profiles", "DefaultProfile") If not @ERROR = 0 command to generate Outlook Profile Endif

Why not check on the variable like this. Code: $Outlook = ReadValue("HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsytem\Profiles", "DefaultProfile") If $outlook = 0 command to generate Outlook Profile Endif BTW: HKEY_CURRENT_USER is the same as HKCU. However Code: $Outlook = ReadValue("HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsytem\Profiles", "DefaultProfile") If $outlook ="" command to generate Outlook Profile Endif did work. Do you see any problems with this check. The value "DefaultProfile" does only exist on users with Outlook configured. I wanna be careful with this so I don´t mess up hundreds of Citrix users. lawe009 lawe009 Fresh Scripter Registered: 2004-04-14 Posts: 36	Reply to maciep The reason not to check for a key but to check for a value is that the key can have any name as a user can delete and create a profile with any name. Probably all have the same name but to check for a value insted of a key seems safer. Edited by lawe009 (2005-12-15 08:26 PM)
