I was just trying to point out that netiquette is too often non-existent for certain moderators. If you says things like that in real life you are either slapped, fired or ignored or any combination of these three. Simply don't do things you wouldn't want others to 'do' to you... People come here for help, not to be bitched at, you can get plenty of that irl.

imho Les puts the other moderators on this board to shame with his attitude

The way this is worded would imply that the other moderators should aspire to be more Les-like as we are the one's who are shamed.

I meant to say that it reflects poorly on them.

"we all have experienced this caveat of setdefaultprinter() "oddity""

Seems as though Jooel wants others to have to struggle thru this same issue. When a simple mod to the manual would prevent others from becoming part of "we all"

Now don't you go bashing me Jooel, I did not bold or capatilize anything here

I'm just soooo greatful you didn't terminate my account

You've obviously got all kinds of insecurity issues - that you can't even handle when somebody points out an error in the docs. GROW UP!

I'm outta here - you ruin this forum with your arrogance!

"Your terminated MF", as Arnold would say. All 145 pounds of you

and your last post clearly shows that I should have done just that.

you are exactly what you accuse me of.

and you can't even read.
if you go back and take a ABC book next to you, you will find out that your blindness to simple english words and "I'm right, I'm right, screw you all" attidude began all this.
so, please learn to read before your next post and have a caring session with someone.

You're right, I misspelled it. YOU'RE TERMINATED MF

"a ABC book" should be "an ABC book" - how's your spelling and grammer?

You need medication, or maybe more of whatever you are taking.

This is my last conversation with you. I should have avoided you from the very first reply you made. I am guilty of getting drawn into a verbal war with an "ID 10 T"

Look at what others said about you in this thread too. That should let you know how well you are thought of...

You're not wanted here with your attitude Jooel, leave us!

Jooel's a good guy once you get to know him. He calls me an idiot and a MF too.

He's nobody I'd ever want to meet. Right from the beginning he was nothing but rude and insulting. I think he wrote the KiX docs and takes criticisms(of the docs) as personal criticisms. I sure hope he didn't write the code for Kix, did he? I will piss me off every time I use KiX if I know he was behind the code

I did rate him - wish they had a -10 stars choice

Maybe you are Jooel, but logging in under an alias? I can't imagine anyone being too find of his rudeness...

Jooel's comments usually need careful reading a few times, a lot of remarks might (?) be ment to be 'funny' but can very very easily be misread. Lets blame it on the cold Scandinavian nights. At least he's one hell of a coder

But I agree on the issue of the moderators of this forum being far too often insolent or rude towards newbies instead of offering a helping hand. And sometimes they're more then helpfull. Perhaps that's only human but then again, who ever said that a moderator can or must be human?

well...
if I'm the only one seeing that mike has been arrogant since hes very first post on this board and rude since the second that's odd.

only my good manners keep me from panishing him for the blashemy.
I know newbies can be stupid but he has proven to not be worthy of that title.
amebas can't be called stupid. they are smart considering the complexity of "brains" they have.

I am brand new to this bulletin board. I too have problems with the SetDefault() command in KIX. I'm glad Mike posted his correction to the docs, as I would have to agree they(the KIX docs) are inaccurate as relates to the SetDefaultPrinter() command. Seems like Les & Jooel are just so used to using the same name for their printer names as for their share names that they think everyone must do the same. Well boys, that is not how you design or document a tool like KIX. A printer's name IS a DIFFERENT PROPERTY than its share name. The fact that they CAN be named differently PROVES they are indeed different... It is easy to see how the original docs could have been written with the narrow view that printer names and shares are the same. But after lots of users point out otherwise, FIX IT! Stop crying and just FIX IT!

Mike - I have no clue why Les and Jooel reacted so poorly to your well documented(pardon the pun) explanation. You appear to have a very technical background - being a programmer and such. So why they could not THANK YOU, instead of insulting you, I have not a clue.

I have to assume they are not programmers and thus not very familiar with good technical writing. Or they are unable to take contructive criticism?

THANKS Mike for saving a new KIX user from losing hours of his time!!!!!

Les & Jooel - you owe Mike an apology IMHO.

Hopefully others that come to this forum are a tad friendlier than these two knuckleheads

I already did.

Contrary to your conclusion, I do know the difference between a share name and a printer name.

As posted in this here http://www.kixtart.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=147574&an=0&page=0#147574 the documentation has been updated.

No need to keep calling each other names.

Mike,

Les apologized to you and who knows maybe some day Jooel will also (when hell freezes over I think or when pigs learn to fly ) lets keep it at that. I can remember something with Gaven (also a member) who got really kicked and hit here cause he took his comments way over the edge to the point of degrading people and calling them all sort of names. We don’t need that again.
IMHO Jooel is very experienced and skilled at kix so things automatically fall into place in his mind that others may interpreted differently. Besides a flame now and then he’s really a good guy and a valued member of korg.
You are both right in your own way but maybe went a bit to far in the name calling.

And reading before speaking might not hurt. See this. And this is the truth.

Quote from an earlier post:

Like Les said if you post the suggestions to do a change to the manual in the suggestions forum good chance Ruud (the developer of kixtart and author of the manual) will see it in a few days from now and who knows implement it into the manual. He's currently working on KiXtart 4.51 (beta 2 is out).

IMHO the appropriate mod should close this thread so the name calling stops and life at korg goes on nice and polite.

Thanks John - you stated my case even better than I did! That should be helpful - for the KiX authors/documenters to think of a printer "name" as one object, a printer's "share name" as another object etc. I'm glad others see the logic behind my original posting. It really was a simple issue, that I think they all concur on now. Well, maybe not Jooel. But his signature of "245 pounds of attitude" says a lot about him. I should never have fallen into the trap of responding to someone with such a ridiculous signature line...

I think it would be advisable to close this thread too, as someone else suggested. Let us all cool off and try to be more mature and welcoming to others in the future.

I love ya man

No need to close the thread. Think (hope) all have calmed down now and no other action required.

Thanks for the suggestions and hopefully Ruud will implement them soon in upcoming versions.

doc, the suggestions have been updated a long time ago.
as soon as this thread came to live, it was already in the works.

even though the discussion here went way off topic, the fixing of the docs got carried out.

even though some may think I'm a brick head, that's not TOTALLY true.
like many have said already here, misunderstanding me is normal.

But not the document that ships with KiXtart which is where it needs to be done.
