I am brand new to this bulletin board. I too have problems with the SetDefault() command in KIX. I'm glad Mike posted his correction to the docs, as I would have to agree they(the KIX docs) are inaccurate as relates to the SetDefaultPrinter() command. Seems like Les & Jooel are just so used to using the same name for their printer names as for their share names that they think everyone must do the same. Well boys, that is not how you design or document a tool like KIX. A printer's name IS a DIFFERENT PROPERTY than its share name. The fact that they CAN be named differently PROVES they are indeed different... It is easy to see how the original docs could have been written with the narrow view that printer names and shares are the same. But after lots of users point out otherwise, FIX IT! Stop crying and just FIX IT!

Mike - I have no clue why Les and Jooel reacted so poorly to your well documented(pardon the pun) explanation. You appear to have a very technical background - being a programmer and such. So why they could not THANK YOU, instead of insulting you, I have not a clue.

I have to assume they are not programmers and thus not very familiar with good technical writing. Or they are unable to take contructive criticism?

THANKS Mike for saving a new KIX user from losing hours of his time!!!!!

Les & Jooel - you owe Mike an apology IMHO.

Hopefully others that come to this forum are a tad friendlier than these two knuckleheads
