Just wanted to share something I came across today. It's a freeware tool from Sysinternals called BGInfo which will display common computer information as a desktop background. It's great for "at a glance" server information.

How old are you there StarWars dude... This app has been around for many years now along with many other great apps on their site. Has been around since the beginning of NT4 days.

But hey, I suppose for new Admins it's a great find - so thanks for sharing.

I'm 29 and have been doing network administration for the past 5 years (technology for 9). My training comes primarily from OTJT, self taught, technical training courses for MCSE, CCNA, MS-etc. and certifications, but I live in a fairly small town (28k) which has a very small networking community.

My network of 250-users, 180-workstations, 20-servers, 4-vlans, and 17-multijurisdictional ACL controlled routes is small/medium sized in industry standards, but is a very complex array of technologies to manage by myself(plus+ 1 desktop support and 1 programmer).

That all said, it's communities like this and peers in the industry through whom (in my opinion) these little tidbits of network computing loveliness are found and shared.

Now that you know my story, ... well, now you know.

So that makes you at least somewhere in the late 40's Doc

29 is a good age, not the big 3 0 yet and left the 2 0 ages ago A friend of mine is 29 and 216 months old accoording to his calculations. I say he's just 47.

And now you know why Les and Doc are so crotchety all the time.

All those years feeding punch cards, and along comes these new fangled mouse things

Has there ever been a community "personal information" share before? Something like everyone sharing their age, job history, and current work/life? It seems that everyone here has been in contact for many years (in some cases). It sure does put perspective on some posts. LOL

By the way, my first computer was an IBM PC Junior, not punch cards.. BUT I did see some in the Vancover B.C. Royal Museum once!(to put things into perspective).

Thanks for the '100th' congrat. (I feel so accomplished)

So why do you say you're the "baby"? You younger than 29 or is that a reference to emotional development?
