Second, kixtart has been around for years. I think it was intoduced with the first NT server resource kit. Over the years, it has grown. The last major upgrade from kixtart3.63 to kix2001 is probably one of the most comprehensive. (By the way, the creator of kixtart is Ruud who occassionly participates in these forums & is oftened refered by other members.)

Third, DOS doesn't really exist starting with WinNT and higher. WinNT contains a DOS simulator only. In some ways this simulator is a more primitive version of kixtart.

Fourth, I am not sure what you mean by "GUI" in the context of kixtart. In my opinion it doesn't really have a GUI interface. It is just a powerful non-GUI scripting language. Just think of it as DOS on steroids. It provides many extra functions that DOS does not have. It has many features builtin that usually can only be accessed through utilities in DOS.

Fifth, everything you do in DOS, kixtart can do, probably better. Your examples all have kixtart equivalents. All the examples you illustrate have been discussed in great detail in the past year. Try a search of the forums.

I think once you have had a chance to work with kixtart for a while you will love it. It makes scripting more powerful, easier and cleaner. I find maintenance of kixtart scripts much easier than DOS scripts. The new UDF funtions help even more in this area.
