ElGuapo ElGuapo Starting to like KiXtart Registered: 2002-06-19 Posts: 100	We had someone leave recently and I am trying to dechiper a problem. The script maps printers, however, for a few printers, error code 1801 is given when an attempt to map to them is made. A test page can be sent to the printer and if the network printer is added to the workstation manually, it prints fine. From the searches I have done, it appears 1801 means the printer name cannot be found? Is that correct?

Lonkero Lonkero KiX Master Guru Registered: 2001-06-05 Posts: 22346 Loc: OK	yes, it's correct. click on start -> run and type: "cmd /k net helpmsg 1801" k... you say if the printer is mapped manually. when you do that, do you browse for it, or do you use the "\\server\printer" syntax you use in the script? my guess is, that you are trying to map to the printer with it's name instead of the printer's sharename. either look on the server from the printer properties the sharename or do a "net view \\servername" to list the shares and catch the one for that printer. _________________________ ! download KiXnet

However, \\server\printer from the client works too. net view \\servername shows the printer name we expect. The printer name and share name are correct and it appears correct in the code. We've even recreated the printer on the print server. Other printers on the print server map just fine.
