k... you say if the printer is mapped manually.
when you do that, do you browse for it, or do you use the "\\server\printer" syntax you use in the script?

my guess is, that you are trying to map to the printer with it's name instead of the printer's sharename.
either look on the server from the printer properties the sharename or do a "net view \\servername" to list the shares and catch the one for that printer.
