Sorry, I had posted this in the wrong section!

I have a little problem: I have a lot of workstations full of "unknown users".
I explain: an authorized user log on in one fo my workstations, and automatically windows create his "Profile User Folder:. ok?
But when the user change, and the account is deleted on the PDC, exist a way to search and delete this "user unknown"?

I think that the "unknown" attribute is given by an interrogation to the PDC from the client,so the solution is not in the System Registry ... I think ...

Can someone help me?
As everytime ... Thanks for everything!

The profiles are stored in the reg by their SID.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

Windows attempts to resolve the SID which you too can do with the SIDtoName() function.

There are lots of utilities available that cleanup unresolved profiles. One needs to be very careful though since it is entirely possible that a SID that cannot be resolved one minute may be resolved later.

Hi there,
as Les already mentioned you should be careful "cleaning up". Check the unknown objectsID against your domain(s) and look if it really does not exist.

If you have migrated users to this domain check the sIDHistory too...

Thank you very much! Really! Every time this forum surprise me!
As usual I forgot to check with more attention the Kixtart Guide, and I have seen the function SIDtoName too late!

Now I'm trying to create a script to have a list of users not recognized from the server, so I will be able to check it and verify correctly!

My idea was to create 1 file .txt for every machine with the list of SID. After with ReadLine check every line and try to give a name for every SID, or an error message.

Is it correct? Someone has an idea to realize a script more fast?
Thanks for your help!

One way to be sure is to use DELPROF from the Resource kit.
