For reasons of stability rather than speed, it is advisable that the .exe and .dll files be copied to %windir% on all Win9x/ME systems. On NT/2K/XP only the .exe files are required, and unless the user is accessing via dial-up, for version management, it would be simpler to leave them in NetLogon.

For dial-up users, CHECKRAS.EXE from the ResKit could be used from within the logon.bat to ascertain which script (if any) to run. If you modularize your script, it could be done from within KiX with @RAS.
