I have been assigned the task of developing script that will change the repository list on the VirusScan software. We are changing servers so I need to edit the UNC path for the superDat updates to be downloaded. So far I can't find any registry entries or files with the current path saved. I was hoping I could find it then edit it with a kixtart script. Does anyone know how I can do this or what I should do?

Is this not done in ePO?

Yes it is done via ePO...if they have deployed ePO.

I would look into adjusting C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Network Associates\Common Framework\SiteList.xml if you do not have ePO. Caution: I have never altered this file.

How did you originally establish the site list?

I'll check out the xml file. Originally we had manually entered them in. It was on an image we used to create the machines when we deployed them so it wasn't tough at all. what is ePO?

ePO is ePolicy Orchestrator. It gives you the abiltiy to deploy, manage, update, etc. your clients. It has the ability to upgrade, downgrade, rollout DATS, Extra Dats, SDATs all from one convenient interface. You can schedule scans, updates, pull new files all automatically.

There is a command line to import the contents of a new sitelist.xml file:
Code:

"c:\program files\network associates\common framework\frminst.exe" /install=agent /siteinfo=\\hqsus1\nai\auto\sitelist.xml /silent

This will do what you want to do. I created a package and deployed it via SMS...

This would be done after modifying the sitelist.xml to reflect your new repositories...

Does that not then assume ePO and if so, why not just deploy with ePO?

The Common Framework appears to install alongside of the standard 8.0i install with or without ePolicy - at least this has been my experience.

Network Associates has tools to create Repositories, Alert Managers, etc. without the use of ePolicy to tie them all together.

Seriously, McAfee's solution to Enterprise AV has always seemed like a hodge-podge of mismatched parts thrown together. Now, Trend, on the other hand, always appeared to be built from the ground up as a complete Enterprise package - from ther Server down...as opposed to from the client up like McAfee.
