We have a lot of servers, and a lot of global groups. Now we are moving into Active Directory and want to know what all the global groups really meant for users belonging to them.
That is, i would like to know on which servers and which shares users belonging to a specifiec global group G had permissions. This can be directly by the shares including G in the file permissions list. Or indirectly by shares including a local group of which G is a member. So we have two cases.
I don't think that I am the first one in need of this information. Someone must have done this before? But if i have to reinvent the wheel, will it be hard? I need to traverse all shares of all servers in a domain and look through the permissions. To compicate things we are in a multi-domain environment. So a global group G could potentially be used in another domain. This might get to complicated so if there is a solution for one domain only i would be glad.
