Couldn't find anything, maybe it's obvious, just to clarify - to setup kix
copy kix dlls and kix.exe and wkix32.exe to sysvol\scripts
create a logon.bat file
that file will have

\\sysvol\kix.32 sysvol\etc\kix.kix

what if we want to have multiple ous with multiple scripts, how does that work? can we create a script per ou? i guess as long as kix is in the script path it should run, but just curious to make sure, the manual should have a section on gpo's.

Why would you copy DLLs? It makes no sense!

Instead of having multiple copies of all the files in the SYSVOL\domain.tld\Policies\{GUID}\User\Scripts\Logon folders, just put the BATch file there and put everything else in NetLogon.

\\Domain\wkix32.exe \\Domain\scriptname.kix

or

\\Domain\some folder name under netlogon\wkix32.exe \\Domain\some folder name under netlogon\scriptname.kix

I would go with:

\\domain.tld\netlogon\KiX32.exe \\domain.tld\netlogon\OU\script.KiX

Depends on how much control you have as an Admin. By having the executable in your own OU as well you can upgrade to a newer version when you want to instead of waiting for other Admins to update. If everyone is using the same executable then you're stuck waiting for approval from other admins to update.

OK then, go with:

\\domain.tld\netlogon\OU\KiX32.exe \\domain.tld\netlogon\OU\script.KiX

and delgate rights to the OU folder for each OU admin.

Why would you want to maintain separate copies of KiX32 for each GPO?

All of your clients can start off executing the same script. the program logic then can check to see what OU the client (user and/or computer) resides and execute additiona specific script for that OU. I have an older write up on that implementation on my web site.

That's fine if CorpIT has the means and inclination to manage scripts for all OUs. In my company, each DivIT has responsibility for their own scripts and CorpIT only manages scripts for head office. Some divisions like mine use GPO scripting, but most divisions still use legacy scripts.

When I designed our AD, I created a folder structure under NetLogon that mirrors the OU structure and just as each division has their OU, so too they have a like named folder under NetLogon. That way, each division can manage whatever version of KiX binaries and their scripts don't interfere.

I agree with Les, we basically do the same.

Exactly like described in my implementation. Each organization manages their own scripts. Actually, in the W2K infrastructure the local OU scripts for the clients are executed from the resource domain DCs and not the logon domain in our company. That way the client has a local server that delivers the script and they are under local management.
