HEEELP! I'm officially stuck. I can't find a way to set the "Wake the computer to run this task." -thing.

EDIT: Now I found TaskFlags, hopefully this'll do the trick. I still have no idea how to add this so that kixtart doesn't give an error message.

EDIT2: Additional trouble: I need to set the "Start in" setting in the task so that it points to where .bat file is located. No idea how to script this. I would work with jt.exe directly but I can't figure it out. I manage to load tasks to it, but after that it's all dark.

Looks like this wasn't so "Starters" after all

Anyway, I'm off to sleep, tomorrow I'll have plenty of time to struggle with this. After that I'm going to a bar with friends, either to celebrate mans victory over software or mourn for the fallen who gave their lives in the battle against the machine, in vain.

Have you confirmed, by using the Task Scheudler itself, that the "wake computer up" actually works on that specific computer. I'd check the basics first before trying to script it via KiXtart. The wake-up functionality might be hardware-dependent and also not work with all system states. I'm also not sure whather JT.EXE will support all advanced functions that the Task Scheduler provides.

Waking up the computer when "Wake up..." is set does work. This is tested and confirmed. The problem is passing the right parameters by script.

If we think about Waking up a computer, it is officially called Wake-On-LAN or WOL. If you send a "magic packet" to the computer, it wakes it up for you if you know the computer's MAC Address..

If we do a searcH for WOL.EXE on the Internet, we find:
http://www.gammadyne.com/cmdline.htm#wol
http://www.gammadyne.com/wol.exe

We also have had a couple of discussions on this here too.

HTH,

Kent
