oobnuker oobnuker Getting the hang of it Registered: 2003-12-09 Posts: 87 Loc: Oxford, CT	Now that I have begun moving forward with a global login script - many thanks to everyone who helped me get started - I now have a new problem. A colleague of mine had created a .php web page that parsed a text dump of our AD users created with a utility called "DumpSec". In order to break down the users by location, he used their login script as an indication of their physical location since we all have (soon to be had) individual scripts for each location...Well, once my script goes live, 5,000 users will have one script... "DumpSec" does not report the OU or container that a user resides in, so my question is, is there a way with .KIX to report this information from AD? I know that I can query AD using Translate Name and InContainer to see where the currently logged in user is, but is there a way to spit out a report of all the users? What about other information in AD? If anyone out there is familiar with DumpSec, I would like to replicate the report that is created with the addition of the user's OU membership. If anyone has any ideas, or knows of another tool that I should be looking at, I would greatly appreciate it. _________________________ -- oobnuker - .KIX hack - no really.

However the main thing that DUMPSEC is for is for creating a readable report of ACL permissions which would be quite difficult to duplicate in as nice a format as DUMPSEC already has. There are many ways to accomplish what you're looking to do but you need to first analyze what data you want and why you want it. You may find that you really don't need some data that you thought you needed. You can query the heck out of the AD and get back just about anything. First layout what you want and then start working on the pieces to put it all together. There are IP UDFS, @SITE macro, InContainer, etc... but without knowing specifically what you want and why you want it makes it difficult to suggest the best method.

ChristopheM ChristopheM Hey THIS is FUN Registered: 2002-05-13 Posts: 311 Loc: STRASBOURG, France	I have done kix scripts that export users, groups, public folders (if exchange), printers, computers with all properties. I am not at my office today but i can send you these scripts tomorrow (they are too long to be posted here) these exports are done every night with a scheduled task and usually, i keep data files a month. it has been userful several times to restore email when owner deleted mail enabled public folders. Question to the moderators : is there a place where files like .zip could be posted to be available for everyone ? something like an open source library dedicated to KiXtart !!! _________________________ Christophe
