CalderX CalderX Fresh Scripter Registered: 2002-04-24 Posts: 6 Loc: Boden north of Sweden	Is it possible to rename a local userprofile in Windows NT/2000 with Kix? How do I deal with the SID? I have tried the UserRename UDF but nothing happens. I am of course administrator when I tested it. Calder

burnsc burnsc Starting to like KiXtart Registered: 2004-04-14 Posts: 171	If he is meaning 'repath' the %UserProfile% directory. I have been successful on a number of machines(NT 4.0 workstation and XP Professional) by just changeing a few registry entries(provided of course that installed software plays by windows rules). I did this by hand though. I have not tried this in a kix script, even though it should be able to be emulated. There are provisions though. Like the user you are moving can not be logged on. I simply created the new directory. Moved the profile to the new directory. Update the registry keys.

Les Les KiX Master Registered: 2001-06-11 Posts: 12734 Loc: fortfrances.on.ca	If the user is renamed and you want the profile to match, just temporarily rename their existing profile, let the user logon and create a new profile, and then rename the new to something else and the old to the new. That reason would be: It frees the administrator from having to remember a username history in the event of trying to recover the users data in the event certain kinds of disaster recovery is needed for the users profile. Like I said though, this would not happen very often. I get anal like this in my administration(when I have the time or when I dont think the change can be logically remembered by my feeble mind ).
