Hi

I've to make a script for my company. So I wanted to do it with KiXtart and to use Kixcrypt too.

While I'll use it in a commercial way I have to be sure if I can use it or not.
For KiXtart it's already o.k. and my boss thinks that it's a good idea to donate to an organization.

So but now for Kixcrypt I can't find a homepage, or a licence. Who is the author of the tool?

By the way KiXtart rocks!

Thanks for your help.

Hi Eduardo,

There is no license for KiXcrypt - it was written as a proof of concept to address some security issues and has never really gone beyond that stage as a product.

Because it was written to help out my mates in the KiXtart community, there is no license, no warranty and no active support.

This means you can take it and do what you like with it, but you do so entirely at your own risk. If you get into trouble I will try and help you out, but I have a day job too.

If you include KiXcrypt in a product then I would appreciate an attribution, but you are under no obligation to do so. Hey, I've got to get my 15 minutes of fame somehow!

The latest version is 3.05a dated 3rd December 2003 - type "kixcrypt -v" to show the version history of your copy.

Hmmm... Yeah 3.05a says 3-Dec-2003 in the Docs, but the creation time says 4-Dec-2003

You can download it from here.

KiXCrypt v3.05a by Richard Howarth

Quote:

KiXcrypt Version 3.05a

Change history (KiXcrypt –v):

3 December 2003 3.05a R. Howarth
Added '--' option for encrypted exe.
Added %KIXCRYPTARGV%
Added %KIXCRYPTOPTS%

Mid-2003 Version 3.04 R. Howarth
Unreleased internal version for testing potential of
compression routines (zlib). Compression very poor due to
the randomness of encrypted code, meaning that compression needs to
be done *before* encryption. This will require a major re-write
so deferred until I have more time to look at it.

27 February 3003 Version 3.03x R. Howarth
Experimental release.
Added '-x' option to pass the primary file as KiXtart variables
Added %KIXCRYPTEXE% to pass the encrypted executable name

24 February 2003 Version 3.02b R. Howarth
Install ctrl handler to deal with ctrl-C etc (Thanks to Ed Myers)

Usage
KiXcrypt is a command line tool used to create encrypted packages, usually containing KiXtart scripts.

Note, the command line can get very long, so I strongly recommend that you use the GUI interface called kcgen.kix, which is in development.
