I talked with my Manager about updating clients using these applications.

I did see Rad's Spybot Manager. Rad - any updates?

And playing around, I found:
  • Ad-Aware is supposed to support command-line updates, but I could not get them to work and Googling found similar issue with other people..
  • Spybot Search and Destroy - Works fine. But I am intrigued by Rad's Spybot Manager (above).
  • Spyware Blaster - Have not had a chance to see about command-line version.

Also, I know McAfee VirusScan 8.0i has some Ad-Killing ability within. However, we only have this installed on a couple of systems.

Thanks for updates and insights.

Kent

Actually, the Personal Edition of Ad-Aware SE does not support any command-line switches, even though the help documentation lists them...the Professional Edition does, however. This is a change from the 6.0 version, the free version of which supports command-line switches.

Not sure about your link Kent. MS says page not found. But think it is similar to the one that Rad already posted above. From the Giant Company that MS bought up last month.

We just purchased PestPatrol from CA ( http://www3.ca.com/Solutions/Product.asp?ID=5222 )
After a evaluation period we purchased PestPatrol and love it. Easy to use and solves our Spy/AddWare problems. Internetaccess speed improved big time.

No probs with Kent's link here.
Interesting stuff this M$ antispyware will take a look tommorow when there is some more time.

It's 10:30 pm here and a massive charity show for the 26-12-2004 Tsunami victims is on the tube (with DJ Tiesto) and a radio show all day synchronised over about 6 radiostations. Radio show ended just above 5.000.000 euro's add this to the +/- 26.000.000 we raised during the week and all that money that is still on the way it's like 40.000.000 euro's ). Proud to be dutch!

[edit]
Total amount of 112.144.000 euro's has been reached

Link is now working, but was dead when he posted it here.

As for the CA stuff, during our test comparisons they lost on several counts.

For the Tsunami money thing - heard that the head of the American Red Cross was complaining that so far the're not really seeing the money, mainly pledges and not much real money yet to use.
