1st, who is Mad Cow?
2nd Origianlly I called the script from the user profile (putting kix32 ntlogon.kix in the profile). Then I tried creating a batch file called logon.bat that called the kix script (\\server\netlogon\kix32.exe \\server\netlogon\ntlogon.kix). I put the logon.bat in the user profile in AD.
Next, I tried using a Group Policy to call the script. I tried calling both the ntlogon.kix settings and the logon.bat
All attempts yielded the same results. It seems as though there are certain users that experience the problem more often, but they may just notice it more than others.
As for the randomness, I have a user that didn't have the script run for 3 days straight and then it ran for her today. Another user had it run for the past couple of days but didn't run today. Sometimes it will run for them on their first logon, but then not run if they reboot during the day. There is no pattern to what is happening.
