it is supposed to keep every web page and email viewed, the contents of every file on the PC, and details of every CD/dvd placed in the PC.

You can easily OPT out of sending the data to Google. You can use ZoneAlarm or other firewall software to "confirm" that it is not reporting back to Google.

I ran it for about a week, but noticed that my system was getting slower and slower. I check and run a defrag and I have the most fragmented drive I think I've ever had. Not saying it is 100% Google fault, but either that or some other applications on my system don't get along with it.

Ran Diskeeper 8 on it and defragged, removed Desktop Google, and system appears to be back to normal again.

Your mileage may vary...

For folks that can't seem to keep or know how to do file mangement (typical home user) it might be a good deal to help them find where they saved or put a file.

XP Search does suck too in that it does Generic searches and not EXACT searches, but good enough to not need Google for myself.

hmmm According to Steve Balmer of Microsoft.

Quote:

Microsoft's operating systems run on more than 90% of the world's personal computers.

Gartner and IDC claim PC sales of 45-46 million units worldwide in the quarter.
That's a LOT of PC's which "most" ship with Windows XP.

So, would seem that the question would be easier to answer if it was: "Who doesn't run XP?" It would be a much smaller list to print out then "Who runs XP?"

Sorry, I don't subscribe to that type of mentality. All humans are of equal value to me. Yes, some are more educated than others, but that does not de-value them as a human being. I may not like some actions or deeds of some, but then again, God did not put me here to be their judge.

Well... God must have put me here to accomplish certain things... so, at this rate, I figure I may never die.

BTW, I really like XP... think it is the best OS to date but I would not give it to my users. They can stay on W2K.

At my work, all our client machines are W2000 (about 6,000 machines) & I run W2000 at home as well. I don't think we are planning an OS upgrade in the near future either. I don't think W2000 is dead yet!

As an aside, my bother runs XP PRO at both home & work & he finds XP is often getting in the way & making it harder for him to do things. He tells me to stay with W2000 as long as I can.

On the other hand, my wife's new latop runs XP Pro & she says she hardly notices the difference between it & her old W2000 laptop.

I'm an XP fan myself - like Les, think its the best OS to date. I got a little turned-off Windows 2K early on - wouldn't/couldn't handle some of my games very well, ended up going back to 98. XP seems to have haved married serious business computing and serious gaming computing into one package.

Well it appears that this little GEM of a tool is beginning to rear some ugly behaviors already.
