We've recently migrated to AD - we still have a few Win95 systems that need to logon and be authenticated. The following is an excerpt from our login script:
:WIN9X
SET KIXDIR=%WINDIR%\KIX
Set KIXSCRIPT=\\usrtp-sdc01\netlogon\xyz\xyz.SCR
SET KIXVER=KIX362
GOTO COPY

I believe the - in the naming convention of the Domain Controller is preventing this script from running on Win95 systems.

Can anyone tell me the correct syntax for system names with a Hyphen in the name?

Thanks!

I can not seem make sense out of the little code posted. I do not see how the script is called. My suggestion would be to use a current version of KiXtart (4.22) and review use of %0 for invoking Win9x scripts.

I have never run into a problem with a hyphen.

Basically what happens is that when the Win95 system gets to the line where it's supposed to call the xyz.scr located at \\usrtp-sdc01 it fails. If I change the path to another server name without the hyphen it has no problem finding and executing the xyz.scr. We've had issues in the past when we've put the path in quotation marks - but it doesn't seem to work in this case.

Thanks.

Since Wintendos map drive Z: to netlogon for the duraton, just use:

Z:Kix32.exe Z:logon.kix

The Network redirector maps it and "may" not allow you to use all the functionality of KiXtart if used in that manner.

Been a long time, but I thought there were some things that didn't work if you did that. (but I could be wrong and my memory leak is getting worse)

Huh?

While there are no Wintendos at my division, we do have divisions calling KiX from the Z: drive with no problems. I have never heard of any limitations calling KiX that way.

SET KIXVER=KIX362

As Howard mentioned, you will really be MUCH better off if you move to KiXtart v4.22
