Hi everyone, I have a sharing problem with my XP workstations connecting to a 2003 Terminal server. In my kix script I'm using this line to map the local floppy into the terminal session:

Code:
USE E: "\\%CLIENTNAME%\DISK_A"

On the 95 workstations, it works perfectly but it doesn't on the XP ones.
I've tried using:

Code:
USE E: "\\%CLIENTNAME%\A$"

Didn't work either.

The share is created on the local computer but I never get the drive once I'm in the session... I've granted full control to everyone for this share. What could be the problem? I don't know where to look anymore.

Thanks in advance!

Is A: Shared as a$ ??

If so, you will probably need to double up on the $.. This is covered in the docs.

Hello Kent, A is not shared as $a, only as DISK_A.

A couple of things to try.

  1. Display @ERROR and @SERROR after the "USE". This will give you the error code and hopefully the reason for the failure.
  2. Log on to terminal server and check that %CLIENTNAME% is correct for the XP workstations - it may not match the NETBIOS or DNS name that resolves to the client.
  3. Start a DOS session on the terminal server, and try "net view %CLIENTNAME%" and see what shares are visible.

Hi Richard, first I took the advice of Kent and had a look at the documentation. I changed the script line to this:

USE E: \\%clientname%\DISK_A /user:xxxx /password:xxxx

After going into debug mode I noticed that I made an error while typing %clientname% and forgot the last %.

Now everything works fine. Thanks for your time and help!!
