Sorry I don't have NetWare anymore to test but I am fairly certain you are using the wrong nomenclature. If you drill down through My Network Places along the NDS route, you will see that it is not \\server\volume.
Why do you have to map NetWare drives in KiX anyway? Why not map them in NetWare? While I was migrating from NetWare, I just flipped the GINAs, using MSGina and let both scripts run. As I migrated each resource, I just removed the MAP statement from NetWare and added USE to my AD script.
It could also boil down to the logon/login order. What GINA are you using? If MSGina, NetWare is not yet authenticated.
