jpg35 jpg35 Fresh Scripter Registered: 2003-08-06 Posts: 27 Loc: SoCal	hmm. Lets say you have 20000 employees. 10k employees reside on the east coast and the other 10k is on the west coast. 1. Would you feel you need a seperate OU for each coast? 2. What would be the real benifit of having a seperate OU for each cost? Each coast is unique and are engineers.

My OU structure is location based (city) then by department It could have been the other way around, but my company has location based resources (servers printers, etc) so location then department was determined to be most efficient. with 20000 users, I'd go with the forest with 2 domain (or more) model as mentioned before _________________________ How to ask questions the smart way <-----------> Before you ask

NTDOC NTDOC Administrator Registered: 2000-07-28 Posts: 11625 Loc: CA	Having 50,000+ users and multiple Domains, I on the other hand would not use multiple domains unless I really had to. ACL group permissions with multiple domains can be a pain. You can have 20 OUs and group to your heart content like Radimus says. Each OU can have it own Administrator and GPO structure if wanted.

If we had one OU, for both coast, can I still run my own kixtart scripts for the west only(this is the coast i administer)? How can I achieve this? 2. Can I push my own policy with only for west coast only with just one OU for both coast? I'm just trying to get some ammunition to justify a the benefits of having a seperate OU for both west and east coast.

If you have to support legacy, you have to either get a little creative with legacy NetLogon scripts or assing different scripts in the users' profiles. AD is very flexible. You can apply policies to groups by ACL but it is a lot easier to manage by OU. _________________________ Give a man a fish and he will be back for more.
