think it's stated in the manual and our faq.
Z drive can't be deleted on win9x machines during logon.
it's always automatically mapped to logondrive and if you unmap it, you either crash your logonscript or the deletion fails.

Also, you need to be consistent with your use statements..

You do them two different ways -
(1)
Code:

USE "G:" /delete

(2)
Code:

USE G:"\\Server1\Sys"

Now, if we go and look at the manual, we see -
Quote:

USE L: /DEL

or...
Quote:

USE E: "\\SERVER\PUBLIC"

Here is the code cleaned up -
Code:

USE G: /delete
USE H: /delete
USE J: /delete
USE K: /delete
USE L: /delete
USE M: /delete
USE N: /delete
USE O: /delete
USE P: /delete
USE Q: /delete
USE R: /delete
USE S: /delete
USE T: /delete
USE U: /delete
USE V: /delete

Also, you may want to read up on KXRPC too (also in the FAQ Forum - right here).

Thanks guys. Will this work with a W95 client? I will try and read up, just a quick yes no will do. Also within the folder that holds the login script I have three files (KIX32.EXE, KIX32.DLL and KX95.DLL) do I need all of these files?

KX95.DLL should only be there if you are running the KXRPC.

In theory.. Yes, the code will work.

You need to read up on Appendix A on Win 9x.

I have taken a look at the manual and it looks a bit complex to me. I have taken this on from an old administrator and cannot figure out, a simple way, to overcome the problem of the machines not connecting to the domain. If I log the machine into the domain, and then go to Network Neighbourhood and locate the server, I can access the shares exactly how I should be able to according to my profile, however the drives specified in the script do not map to the shares? I can only see local drives from My Computer? Shall I remove the KIX95.DLL from the folder? And insert the KIX16.DLL???? Thanks

you don't need any of the dll's for basic functionality.
but I see that is not the issue here.
the issue is you don't have properly set logonscript environment and you probably should learn about how to set it up.

I agree I need to gain a better understanding, however can you explain something to me.
I have copied both th KIX16.DLL and the KXRPC.exe file to the NETLOGON folder. However, the client machines (W95/W98) will not process the kix script? I looked in the manual and it claims that a kix*.log file is copied to display the errors but I cannot locate this file. Do I need to copy any files to the client machine? And if so where do I copy the files to? Thanks

KXRPC does not belong in NetLogon! It is explained in the manual.

You need to start with some very basic tracking. The problem could very well be in the logon.bat and the wintendos might not even be running KiX.

You are just not getting it! KXRPC is a service and NOT a client executable. It should be in the System32 folder of the hosting server and installed as a service.

Based on info you dribbled out in your other thread, Help please I would say because you are trying to launch via GPO, the wintendos will never run the script.
