Hi,

I am currently using Kixtart on Windows NT and will be migrating to Windows 2003 Active Directory. What should I take note of to ensure that users migrated still get the relevant mappings or Active Directory be able to locate the relevant resources.

It is Kixtart2001.

Here are the detail information.
In Windows NT domain, I have many global groups. E.g MCAFEE Groups or Human Resource Groups.

So basically, I have put all domain users in the group called MCAFEE, so all users will update the latest virus defination files when they log in.

The script goes like this
IF INGROUP ("MCAFEE")
Shell '%comspec% /C "J:\Virusdef\MCAFEE.exe"
ENDIF

The problem is that we are migrating to windows 2003 and HQ is managing the OU and I dont think we are allow to create groups since we are part of a wider domain.

Another similar issue is the mapping of drives based on INGROUP. Any insights?

Hello and welcome to the board.

Can you be a little more precise on the version.

KiXtart v4.12 or v4.21 or v4.22 - etc...

In general I don't think you will have any issues if you are using v4.12 or newer. If you can it would be best to run v4.22 which is the newest currently released version.

In my opinion you should update your code a little so that it does not run the McAfee update EVERY time a user logs on. Some users may log on and off 3 or more times a day and that would just waste bandwidth if you were to run it over and over.

Also you may want to pre-pend the Domain to the InGroup call like this.

IF INGROUP ("SomeDomain\MCAFEE")
