My current login script is a simple batch file that calls a Kix file that logs a bunch of the Kix macros to a text file.

Additionally, it checks to see if the most recent Norton AV is on the user's workstation by:

IF NOT EXIST C:\TEMP\0822i32.exe COPY \\%LOGONSERVER%\NETLOGON\0822i32.exe C:\TEMP\0822i32.exe,
and then calls the Virus Update file to run.

Problem is, my remote users don't want to wait for the few minutes it takes to download the file, so they CTRL-ALT-DEL and "End Process" on my login script.

Is there a way to defeat this?

I've played with changing the login script to start the Scheduler account under local admin privileges, then using "soon" (rather than "at") to schedule the download, but I can still break out of that from Task Manager.

Any ideas?

Steve.

Hello Steve,

There are a few things that can be done, but first please let the board know the following information in order to better help you.

What version of KiXtart are you using?

What Server OS are you running?

What are your client OS that you have to support?

Are the KiXtart files run locally or from the Server?

first command in logon script:
(which is actually default in kix)
break off

it disables the ability to stop the process.
if the process is stopped, kix will automatically log off the current user.

but. in kix2k1 it's not working. so it's working only kix version 3.63 and under.

I was going to say that, but I was not sure what versions it did work on. We run v3.63 and yes it does work, but not sure about other versions that people use.

Thanks for the info Lonkero.

So is Ruud aware of this problem on the 2001 version?

Thanks for the report, I will have a look.

One question: are you using KIX32.EXE or WKIX32.EXE?

map the user's drives at the very end of the script...

They will stop breaking the process after not having their H: drive a few times
