Hello,

I have some HP xw6000 pc's that i need to install. I created an Unattended install file, but when i boot up the machine from floppy the XP setup runs out of memory and stops the only options is to exit. The installation files are on the netwerk so some nic driver is also loaded during the boot process. The harddisk is empty and formatted fat32.

Any suggestions?

well, you should only load the appropiate network driver.
also, after exit, how much mem is available?
do you use ramdrive or only the floppy as storage?

The CHM files that come with SysPrep should suffice. Also, the Microsoft site does have a utility to create Windows XP boot disks. The failure to copy files normally point to either defect harddrive or faulty/incompatible memory.

I think the problem is an invalid driver signing for the ultra320 scsi card. Not sure though but will test on a "normal" desktop.

What about using Microsoft's RIS, SysPrep and Symantec Ghost to deploy? It is what we use and works great with the images we build.

well, RIS is AD only, ghost is costly, sysprep... well, it might be ok
but it takes time lot more than simple floppy rock.

I normally use Ghost to. And that works. But i want to try the unattended installation method.

It works fine with w2k but XP will not work...bah!

Hi,

Unattended is fun for all the family!!
Dont use it cause we use different Pc's and you setup will be affected by this....but saying that Ghost will muck up 2.

Are you using the Setup Manager Wizard?

Regards,

That's what SysPrep is for, create an image on a master PC and subsequently apply to different ones.
