unfortunately, such killings are far too commonplace. African countries are under constant threats of violence, and the far east is probably just as bad.
that isn't to say Europe is safe, how safe is it for school kids to ride a bus in Ireland... with the IRA running around.
The US has very little experience in terrorism... with only 3 events that I can think of in the last 10 years. when it does, most people don't know what to do. and then they don't realize that other people live with these threats daily.
