Well, I don't see an option to add a file here in reply.

ja!

what we actually miss, is an upload area.
but, that could be risky...

I think we could be best of with some heavy board tweaks.
1) make all posts code-sections be saved in file
2) make those be showed with iframes

well... quess the upload thing would be easier.
or just forget long codes.
for udf-lib, we can build the soft (similar to SL)

It may be an option that isn't enabled.. Maybe uploads could be limited to a handful of contributors, since most users tend to post shorter things anyway. This would reduce the risk to the BBS of someone posting copyrighted material or using it to pass warez.

That would alwo allow us to post screenshots of KF apps. Users without that capability could ask a moderator to upload for them, which would instantly add some control to the process.

Yes, UBB.threads has the option to attach files to a post. One could for example attach a myfunction.udf file to the MyFunction() thread in the UDF Forum so that people can download the UDF as a file instead of copy/paste.

However, Henri decided to not allow these attachments.

But if added as a file you could not search the details of it as you can now.

Well, you could post excerpts... and most searching is probably done by description & subject rather than code content. Think about searching for InStr(), for example. Not relevent in most cases.

I think that posting attachments, even by a limited number of users, would be the best solution to LARGE posts.. Again, we're talking about the exception and NOT the rule.

The problem is that it opens the door for abuse. Yes, it would be nice to have the UDF attahced as a file to the UDF post, however I am not sure how to accomplish this in a secure manner without reverting to a moderated UDF Forum.
