This is not new news.
Have a look at a map of the World and find the UK - check out the latitude. Now have a look at what else is at that latitude. Brrr.
The only reason that we have a temperate climate is because of the sea. The UK is an island group, so the relatively small land mass is warmed and cooled by the surrounding waters.
At present, the Gulf Stream keeps us toasty, but there has been evidence for a while that there are changes going on in the global currents. If we lose the Gulf Stream that would be bad, temperatures would plummet. However, what is worse is that we would start getting the cold water from the North.
We will freeze rapidly, and as the country currently comes to a full stop with just two inches of snow it should bugger the economy right up.
I'd better stock up on firewood before panic buying sets in.
