In regard to the flakiness and the firmware... at least for me, they were one and the same. The weird drop offs and resets disappeared once Linksys upgraded the firmware. I never had these problems with Linksys's 2.x and 3.x series wireless routers, just the 4.x series. Now though, the 4.x series are fine. I'm happy with it.
