We've played with SUS some. It works well and it is free. That is enough to commend it in my eyes. Oddly enough, our management is resistant to SUS. Go figure.
Just FYI, a very modest server can support quite a few clients. This is a great use for a server that is no longer cutting-edge, but not quite ready for retirement.
