Hi,

just received a new server with kixtart on it. Work brilliant for group mappings, so when somebody belonging to group Systeembeheer logs in they get the right mapping to the server (Z:works fine). Somehow though this doesn´t seem to apply for single users. This is my (probably super simple) script:

if ingroup("!Systeembeheer")
use Z: "\\vob-srv\groepen\Systeembeheer"
endif

; --- For a user called groep8 ---

if @userid = "groep8"
use j: "\\vob-svr\groepen\Groep78\Groep 8"
endif

use G: "\\vob-srv\groepen\Iedereen"

All mappings work good except for the users. I´ve tried syntax changes (@USERID and @userid), single colons (or whatever they are called )but neither option seems to work.

Question is: why? should there be a separate function saved in the login directory (just like ingroup)? where does this go wrong? It must be possible to change mappings for each individual user...
Thanks in advance!
Thor.

You are trying to deep root map the folder but you don't say what OS the client is. Only w2k/XP/w2k3 can do this.
use j: "\\vob-svr\groepen\Groep78\Groep 8"

The 'map root' issue is explained in detail in the KiXtart Manual. Additionally, Windows x9 does not support the mapping of the Z: drive during login as it is being used for the %LOGONSERVER%\NETLOGON redirection.

Please read ABC's of KiXtart board etiquette and message to new forum users and provide sufficient infromation.

Firts of all sorry ´bout the OS. The server runs with W2kServer, majority of clients run with W2k, and two machines are currently on XP for testing. As for the manual, I received this server ´as is´, so kixtart was already on it. I´ve contacted the dealer as well but he didn´t get much further than the script as I´ve provided.

As for the etiquette, I totaly agree with using etiquette, forgive us dumb foreigners who sometimes have trouble reading the whole lot! It takes us a bit longer reading it. Meanwhile forgiveness is the oil of the net.

OK, by your reply "majority of clients run with W2k" I assume then no Win9x/ME/NT4 so deep mapping and Z: are not the issue.
You then need to do some testing to see what is and is not working. Thry running in debug mode and single step through the script to see. You can also salt in some @Error and @SError lines to see what is happening. The FAQ section has some good tips on troubleshooting.

Les,

indeed we donot have any Windows9x machines here.
I have isolated the problem by adding additional lines:
? "@userid"
sleep 20

This lead to an error 1314. Found out what that is, but I´ll try to figure out how to solve that through previous postings...

Well, that sortof changed the whole perspective. Error 1314 is (like I found out in the fora) a porblem with the setting of the time. I´ll fix that with domainpolicies in a coulpe of minutes. That means the problem still exists. I´ve had some posts aboyut the correct way of checking userid.... All sorts of different ways of wrinting it! I´ve tried the manual´s way without luck, this really drives me up the wall!

You are having network problems. By querying the macro and delaying, you are allowing time for the network to respond. You need to review your network design. I suspect it is kerberos problems related to timesync issues.
