I was thinking...
to get a facelift on Korg, the current Logo has to go.

now, is it that we need one?
and if we need one, who is to make it?
is there artists that could wrap it up?

it is clear that kixtart itself has not one (at least not in the exe) so...
it would start from the scratch.

on the other hand, it shouldn't be too clown-ey, as it wouldn't say anything about kixtart which is plain and simple yet powerfull.

once there is a good one, who knows, it might end to kixtart's exe [Wink]

Why facelift? Why new logo? I like the techie-plain-and-simple layout.

Well... a facelift and new logo need not be inextricably linked. One can update the korg home page and still keep the same logo which, by the way, I like and vote to keep.

Actually, they share similarities but the stylized X is different.

I think the homepage could stand a facelift. I don't like the long "News" frame and the long scrolling leaving the main frame empty. It shouls either scroll independently or have a "More" link to another page.

I don't like the references to KiXtart 95 and 2001. They date the software and confuse the true version. I think those references be dropped in favor of the 3.x and 4.x verioning.

The quasi-text [home] [bulletin board] [downloads] etc. stuff at the top of the page looks like the old-fashioned true text-only links for old browsers and slow links and should go.

The mixed font sizes for the links in the last paragraph should not be. We could also stand to loose the blue border/background.

The most outstanding and important thing of all to update is the board code itself. This old UBB is damned slow and featureless. A migration to Invisionboard would be the largest both "face" and function/speed lift of all.

Loosing the logo with the blue X would not be necessary in my opinion. The board looks ok like it is (except for some slowness and missing features like Masken said).

The site itself could use sort of a facelift.
I like the way http://www.kixscripts.com/ looks. Fresh an clean.
http://www.kixtart.org looks old and empty.
Did some Fireworks stuff on a yet to be deployed site at work (current site sucks big time) and some sweet stuff can be done with it. I see some possibilities for korg too.

Ok, I'll speak my mind. Don't get pissed at me [Big Grin]

-The current korg site (besides the board) looks like it has been taken directly from a WYSIWYG html editor. Just like you said it's to FrontPage like.

-Currently there is no visual attraction at the current site. If I would be a first time visitor and stumbled upon the korg site I would most certainly not be impressed by the looks of the site and probably would not think KiXtart itself would be any better (luckily it is much better) would probably continue my search for a fitting scripting language.

-A more dynamic first page would be a great improvement. I would put some examples of fun and/or functional code on it which would change by day of the week or month or something and not leave everything up to the board.

-Loosing the blue background for e.g. a white one would indeed remove some of the (please forgive me) ugliness.

-A more transparent design with no background colors and dynamic design would attract more visitors and potential new users of KiXtart.

-The news part is ok but maybe put it on a seperate news page.

-The old versions of kix should also stay downloadable it's agreat help when testing code.

If it was up to me I’d dump the current korg site and put up a complete new one with a kixscripts.com based design with a korg twist to it.

Off course there are much more apps to create a modern looking and attractive website but I have very good experiences with fireworks and dreamweaver.

Currently we are switching ISP so when DNS replication is done (hopefully by the end of Monday 10 November) our new fireworks/dreamweaver site will actually be visible.

Yeah plenty of possibilities but don't want so much eye candy you slow the site to a crawl every time you go there.

I think this site looks attractive as well.

well, the frame-menu is shitty as it's scroll is disabled and you miss most of the menu with smaller window.
the base idea is good though.

Very nice but I can make some coffee and drink it while waiting. So keep it simple... Don't change to much is my point of view.

Helpdesk.kixtart.org looks nice but if you count all the mouseclicks you have to make it isn't nice anymore..

I kind of like the current site. It is never trendy but it does the job & it looks reasonable in my opinion. (Of course, in school, I was never noted for my artistic expression. [Roll Eyes] )

The forums themselves could use a few more features but I don't know how this site is paid for. I always assumed it runs off donations & freebies so I am reluctant to compare it to more commercial sites & demand the same level of features. [Smile]

The current site is ok.. However, I little dress-up would be cool. I don't think Flash-enabled would serve any good purpose. It is neat looking, but in order to get the job done, it does not work here.

I think the site does need a change to bring it more up-to-date.
A new logo is an option, yes it looks old and dated, but then it is simple.

I very rarely visit the site, I just pop into straight the forum and lurk. But looking at it now, it does look a little dated and plain. [Frown]

Don't get me wrong, I have no problems with the site, as I am sure no one here does. I am also sure that no-one means personal offence when posting comments about this topic - Being a web designer, I know how hard negative comments can be. [Smile]

If you want my logo/web design skills just ask.

It sure has more visual attraction then the korg homepage. Maybe make both designs more equal.

Putting flash stuff on it is certainly not the way to go. Don’t like all that flashy stuff that much.
I like this one (ok, ok it’s flash but done really sweet), beautiful graphics.
